About

FocalPoint Forensics

After founding Northpoint Collision Consultants, LLP nearly 13 years ago, I left my role as its Senior Partner to take a slightly difference path, one that allows me to continue providing collision reconstruction services while, at the same time, embracing my passion for using laser scanners, drones, and virtual and augmented reality, to create stunning forensic deliverables and experiences. Thus, FocalPoint Forensics, LLC was born on March 1, 2022. Although I continue to collaborate with my former company and business partner in a significant way, I am laser-focused on expanding my business and relationships under FocalPoint Forensics. My goals are plenty, and the bar is set high, but I am excited to use the new technology I have acquired over the years, particularly over the last seven years while teaching the subject of documenting crash and crime scenes across the globe.

So what is the new technology I speak of? Well, it is not really new, but relatively new in the public safety realm. New technology has rewritten the “best-practices” rules for documenting collision and other critical incident sites. And new technology has certainly changed the way we present a scientific analysis. Sure, using conventional tools will eventually get the job done, but creating two-dimensional exhibits from measurements taken with nylon tapes and ground-based photography alone is, well, FLAT. There are better choices to make for pushing your forensic case over the finish line. Have you thought about the visual impact three-dimensional exhibits would have on the success of your case?

The Power of Immersive Forensics

What if you could hand the jury printed, three-dimensional, replicas of wrecked vehicles involved in your crash case, would that make a difference? What if, in a virtual space, you sat the jury in a car that was involved in a collision and let them watch from the driver’s perspective on how the collision occurred. Would that make a difference in your case? This, and much more, is possible, and I bet my good reputation that it would make a big difference. There is no doubt it would wow a jury if opposing counsel was foolish enough to not settle the case beforehand.
